Children’s advocacy centers (CACs) provide a safe, child-friendly environment where law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental health professionals may share information and develop effective, coordinated strategies sensitive to the needs of each unique case and child.
Southwest Mississippi CAC coordinates a multidisciplinary team (MDT) in five counties: Pike, Amite, Copiah, Lincoln and Walthall.

The Purpose of the MDT is to utilize a coordinated team approach in the investigation and prosecution of all child abuse cases and to function in a manner causing the least amount of trauma to the child. Our Team reviews child abuse cases monthly, and our shared effort builds stronger investigations and cases against alleged child abusers.
